Bullet Girl slipped in the mud and hurt her back, she seemed to be recovering and we didn't know it at the time but the slip was caused by the lymphoma. When she suddenly got worse, her rear legs were very weak, she was just about immobile I got her to a neurologist. She had MRI's and spinal taps and got the diagnosis of lymphoma in her CNS. With out any treatment she probably would have had a week with it the neuro. said maybe 3-5 months. Bullet was very scared of being away from me and also had never been sick (vomiting or diarrhea) a day in her life so I took that all into consideration and we decide to give her a chemo that my own vet could administer, a simple injection that shouldn't make her sick and prednisone. Bullet improved to the point she could walk around the block though she was wobbly. She did not get sick from the chemo and we had some wonderful quality time together. At almost 3 months later she started to decline and it was apparent that the lymphoma had spread to her liver. It was only about a week later when she clearly let me know she was ready to head to the Bridge. She peacefully left with me holding her paw and kissing her sweet head.
It isn't easy but don't feel bad about yesterday, it is gone let it go, don't worry about tomorrow, it won't change anything. Treasure every moment. Sit and talk with your dog and do what you think they would want. That is the best you can do, all you can do and any decision made out of love is never wrong.
