Kipper's story

Kipper had tissue removed from under the skin on his left front leg and the pathology came back as hemangiosarcoma. (Kip had had inflammed tissue removed from the same area a little more than a year ago and the report came back fine then so this result was not expected.) X-rays and ultrasound of his lungs, heart and spleen all came back clear. Kip just started intravenous chemo with doxorubicin.

Kipper is a black lab mix (there's definitely some hound in there!), he's a rescue (who really is rescuing me!), he's SO SWEET, he's registered as a therapy dog, he loves to meet and greet people and dogs, he's my best friend.

I'm trying to find any and all means for combating this cancer.

Cancer fighting tip from Kipper's owner Nancy B.

Dobson's owner Hi, Nancy, Kipper sounds like a great dog. I'm sorry you guys are going through this. There are several dogs on this site that have/had hemangiosarcoma. You could look them up pretty easily by searching by the type of cancer. Some owners have shared their experiences with some detail, such as Lucy the beagle's owner Lauren. If you haven't consulted with a veterinary oncologist, you might ask your vet for a referral. There was research done at the University of Pennsylvania vet school a couple of years ago that was very impressive. Best wishes to you and Kip. -- Eann (Dobson's mom)
