It has been over 6 months since I lost my sweet little "Tuni". She almost made it to her 17th birthday. Petunia was my best friend and I miss her terribly. I often think I hear her and I dream about her almost every night.
I have found that the painful feelings of loss do not go away... it's just something you have to learn to live with.
I hope wherever she is, she knows I love & miss her.
It is a bittersweet blessing, they will never know they have "cancer". So, for any outcome, you have to do your best to stay positive, reassuring and loving... that is one thing they do understand and I believe it helps them "fight".
When I felt overwhelmed by grief, I would go outside or at least into another room until I could "get it together".
To anyone with sick or stressed canines, I swear by this stuff... "Bach's Rescue Remedy for Pets" (an alcohol-free, glycerin base especially for pets). I gave it to Petunia, Chloe (my other girl, an Aussie Mix) even myself. It is safe for ALL species (including plants).
